Visitors to Qatar’s Museum of Islamic Art can enjoy a special treat – the exhibit “Pearls” opened earlier this week. According to GulfTimes.com, the exhibit was introduced by HH Sheikha Mozah Nasser al-Misnad and numerous high-profile guests who had travelled from around the world just to be at this special and once-in-a-lifetime event.
Guests to the “Pearls” exhibit can enjoy more than 300 pearls. These pearls and art works show the history of pearls in the Arabian Gulf area. “Pearls” also offers the opportunity to understand the value of pearls and their use in both jewelry and as design elements for centuries. This is a unique opportunity to learn how pearls have been a special part of our life and we have treasured them since first finding them. If you are not a pearl lover by now – certainly visiting “Pearls” will turn you quickly into a pearl lover as you discover their influence and the passion for pearls held by men, women and countless generations.
By visiting “Pearls” you will see many pearl pieces together you may not have the opportunity to see together again. A highlight of the exhibit is an Indian Baroda carpet from 1865 created specially for the Maharaja of Baroda. The Indian Baroda carpet is adorned with more than one million stunning pearls. It also has many precious stones. This one-of-a-kind carpet will be permanently displayed in the National Museum after the exhibit is completed.
There are many other treasures to enjoy from the “Pearls” exhibit – likely it will be difficult to select just one favorite! Pearls owned by well-known people of our time or long ago including Marilyn Monroe, “Coco” Chanel and Queen Mary of Great Britain will also be displayed. If you have followed their impact on history, this is a time to see what pearls have caught their fancy. We know that many women have fallen in love with pearls. Now is the perfect opportunity to discover if the pearls you adore are the same as one of your favorite well-known people from history.
“Pearls” is a stunning exhibit the pearl lover simply cannot miss. We wonder when so many pearls of this caliber will be together – all at once for a pearl lover to enjoy, examine and take in all for the pleasure of learning more about their favorite pearls? To be surrounded by more than 300 pearl pieces is a unique opportunity that is not offered all the time. Some would say this is a once-in-a-lifetime moment for the pearl lover. If you are passionate about pearls, you’ll want to learn more about “Pearls.” What could be better than a museum exhibit dedicated to our favorite subject – pearls? This is an exciting event to be enjoyed!

Of all the rock stars in the universe, Prince isn’t one I would have pegged as a football fanatic. But, he’s a Minnesota native and apparently a loyal Vikings fan, especially after seeing them trounce the Dallas Cowboys last week. So moved was he by their victory that he sat down and wrote a song about them. It’s called “Purple and Gold” (you know he’s a fan of their color scheme too) and definitely finds Prince exploring some new musical territory. More fight song than funk groove, it’s an anthemic ode to the Vikings’ sportsmanship and athletic fortitude. He does manage to sneak a little attitude in there though, with lyrics like “eyes say ready 4 battle / no need 4 sword in hand / we r all amped up like a rock n roll band. “ It’s no “Super Bowl Shuffle,” but I don’t think Prince shuffles. He’s more of a strutter. Check out the clip below and see what it inspires.

Many parents start to think about buying their daughter “real” jewelry when she reaches her pre-teen years. Often a pre-teen girl is responsible enough to care for real jewelry so it will remain in excellent condition. Most pre-teen girls have outgrown the stage of youth where misplacing things is quite common. So the first thought begins…..what pearl styles should you consider for your pre-teen daughter?
