The Stunning Hope Pearl and Lovely Saltwater Pearls

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Many have heard of the Hope Diamond, but have you heard of the Hope Pearl? The Hope Pearl was collected by Henry Philip Hope. The Hope Pearl was acquired by Mr. Hope during the 19th century. It is a white drop-shaped, freshwater pearl that is 450 carats or 4 oz. It is considered to be one of the largest saltwater pearls. Today you can find it at the British Museum of Natural History.

Many customers have fallen in love with saltwater pearls. Looking at the Hope Pearl only makes us realize exactly why so many love saltwater pearls. Their lustre, radiance and beauty are unique, treasured and timeless. Saltwater pearls are ideal for many styles of jewelry. Could we imagine for a moment the stunning jewelry that would be created using the Hope Pearl?

The Hope Diamond, also collected by Henry Philip Hope is impressively large. This diamond is 45.52 carats and is a unique deep blue shade. The Hope Diamond can be found today in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C.. Many have heard of the Hope Diamond because there is a rumor it has been cursed. We wonder….how could anything so beautiful be “cursed?”

Four ounces is an extraordinary size for a saltwater pearl. A large size for a saltwater pearl is 14mm. Saltwater pearls come in a variety of shapes, including the classic round pearls we’ve come to know and love. Also very popular are keshi pearls that have a slightly “folded” edge look to them as they are round in shape but are more flat and less third-dimensional as a sphere. Coin pearls are also another customer favorite, as these pearls come in a variety of natural shapes. Drop pearls look exactly as their name describe them - like little drops! Each style and shape is unique and perfect for fine pearl jewelry.

Saltwater pearls are ideal especially for that special woman in your life who loves the beach or ocean. These lovely pearls will remind her of her deep connection to the ocean and it’s natural beauty. Saltwater pearls are one of the ocean’s loveliest treasures we can find. For generations women have worn saltwater pearls to celebrate the ocean and our love of it’s natural beauty.

Many women are thrilled to discover that saltwater pearls come in many sizes, shapes and colors. Enjoy saltwater pearls in white, ivory, cream, gold, pale pink, deep purple and other lovely ocean inspired colors. These saltwater pearls are used by the finest of pearl jewelers and designers today to create fine pearl creations for women to enjoy and treasure. A woman today has many choices to celebrate her passionate love and enthusiasm for the saltwater pearl.

For the moment, the Hope Pearl will stay where it is. Fortunately there are many other beautiful and lustrous saltwater pearls for us to enjoy!
